The North Peace Tribal Council (NPTC) was incorporated in 1987 by the Little Red River Cree, Dene Tha', Tallcree, and Beaver First Nations. In 1995, the Lubicon Lake Nation was also accepted into membership.

NPTC 3 Fold Mission

  • provide a political forum to influence policy and decision making affecting member First Nations
  • combine efforts to address issues, resolve problems, and find economies by working together
  • provide resources and support to enable the provision of professional advisory services to member First Nations

Board of Directors

The Council is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a Chairman and the Chiefs of member First Nations. NPTC meetings are attended by the Board and appointed representatives from the Councils of affiliated First Nations. Member First Nation Elders are honorary members of the Council.

The board members of NPTC are Chief James Ahnassay,  Chief Rupert Meneen,  Chief Gus Loonskin, Chief Bernard Ominayak and Chief Lorne Bulldog. Lloyd MacKenzie is the Chief Executive Officer appointed by the Board to oversee the administration of the Council's day to day operations.

 

Tribal Area Consultation Table (TACT)

TACT processes were established to facilitate the ongoing engagement of member First Nation Council members, Elders, and general members in a series of Regional Roundtable sessions as it relates to Tribal areas encompassed by NPTC's member First Nations.
